Performing the Bharatanatyam margam (meaning a path) called “In Love With,” Sweta Ravisankar weaves a story with the dances she learned and choreographed during the pandemic and has been in love with ever since. Sweta will discuss her relationship with these pieces, their evolution within her, and how it led to the evening’s lineup. Covering dances in traditional dance forms as well as contemporary themes, this performance is perfect for audience members of all ages wishing to learn about Bharatanatyam and those who are already long-time fans.

A portion of the ticket sales go to Tualatin Valley Creates, a non-profit arts organization in Hillsboro.

A Bharatanatyam performing artist, teacher, and choreographer, Sweta Ravisankar began her journey in this art form nearly three decades ago. Sweta holds a Masters in Fine Arts and is currently the Artistic Director of Sarada Kala Nilayam, where she teaches Bharatanatyam and Nattuvangam (cymbals) for the past decade.

She performs extensively as a solo artist and in group productions. Through her performances and work, Sweta aims to encourage creativity in all, to present the arts as a language for communication, and to create a sense of community and belonging.
